An unlikely start…
I began my oil and gas career in a guard shack, while bartending. Working in a guard shack and getting to know a few people, I simply asked, “if you hear of any companies looking for a sales representative, I would love the chance to apply”.
How it began…
Melissa and I both worked at a waste facility which shut down at the beginning of Covid, and debated our next move. April 2020 found us laid off, and planning our dreams! This company is my heart and soul. I get to meet with people I’ve worked with for 10 years and have so much respect for, while gaining more knowledge and skills.
A dream come true…
When my kids are sick I get to be home; when they have a school program, I’m there. Anytime I’m busy, Melissa takes the ball and runs with it. I get to be present for my children and I love my career. To me, this is the ultimate win in life.
Melissa has become one of my key people, not only for business, but for life. We compliment each other so well. Business can be tough, oil and gas can be hard, life can be tiring, but at the end of the day we know we can count on each other. Whether a tough decision or a fun OOGA conference, we get through life as a TEAM.
Our Women-owned business has had its doors open for over 3 years now and we’ve been blessed enough to bring on two extraordinary women as team members, Mel Shepherd and Nikole Shapley. We figured out quickly, we couldn’t do it all. Needless to say, these two ladies are such an attribute and we could not function without all they do.
When I’m not working, I’m usually running my daughters to one of their sporting events, playing outside, or visiting family. I enjoy target practice, or anything that gets the adrenaline pumping, and being with my closest friends.

How it all started
Melissa’s career began at the age of 16, where she learned office administration for her Dad’s pipeline company.
Now with over 20 years in the Oil and Natural Gas industry, she has extensive experience working for producers as well as service providers. Specializing in accounts receivable management for both trucking and environmental services, Melissa’s experience extends from equipment rentals and tracking, to waste hauling and disposal.
Melissa’s experience working for one producer allows her to understand the importance of cost savings for all producers. And her previous employment working for service contractors allows her to understand the importance of cash flow to their contractors.

Melissa - “I love my job! I’m so fortunate to have had amazing mentors throughout my career who I give full credit for teaching, coaching and guiding me, but most especially to my parents and to Fred & Ann Badertscher (former owners of Buckeye Water Service).
I’m grateful for every job and life event which led me to this point in my career…. and I’m beyond grateful to have met and now work with Mariah.
To say I’m blessed beyond measure to have her as not only an outstanding business partner, but as a friend is definitely an understatement.
And my blessings have only multiplied by adding Mel to our team, Mariah and I would truly be lost without her. Now we’ve added Nikole to oversee our safety and compliance.”

Melissa (Mel) Shepherd

Executive Assistant
Mel is an office management professional with over 6 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. She joined JM2 team in July of 2022 as an executive assistant. Prior to working at Justified M2 Solutions she held administrative and office management roles and brings over 20 years experience in office administration and management.
She quickly proved her value and now assists with accounts receivables, setting up of new customers and contractors, field sales, and daily operations of the office.
Mel resides in St. Clairsville, OH with her family and attended West Virginia University studying Business Administration. She holds several certificates in the Business Administration Field. She enjoys exploring the outdoors, boating, traveling and spending time with her family.

Nikole - “I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom for a large portion of my kids childhood, but I recently decided it was time to have a career of my own.
I was blessed to meet the Justified ladies, they’re an amazing group of women and I’m so thankful to be a part of their team.
My duties include data entry utilizing Microsoft Office pertaining to our daily job tracker and project tracker. Handling our scheduling phone during night shift to schedule trucks and contractors for projects. And I’m learning to oversee their safety program.
I love that it keeps me busy and that there is always something new to learn. My favorite part is going in the field and meeting new people. We’re fortunate enough to work with/around really interesting people so it keeps things exciting.
Having a job that you love makes life a lot less hectic. If I’m not working you’ll find me with my kids, we’re always outside soaking up the sun and playing around, or sitting around the campfire relaxing.”
